PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten –– Ruby Labega, winners of the 1st Interscholastic Basketball Championship will be traveling today, Thursday, March 10, to Curaçao to represent St. Maarten in the Inter Inselair Competition.
The Inter Inselair competition is a yearly school competition held in the Dutch Caribbean, and St. Maarten has been invited to take part in this year’s competition.
The travelling delegation will be six students from Ruby Labega Primary School and will be supported by four students from the Sub-Champions St. Joseph School. They will be coached by Robert Pantophlet and Minerva Marlin-Cooper. Also travelling are representatives of the sports department and Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Silveria Jacobs.
The students will return on Sunday, March 13, looking to be victorious. Heavenly Water has generously sponsored travel shirts, uniforms and sport bottles to stay hydrated during games. The Walichi Basketball Association would like to wish the delegation a safe, fun and successful trip and a huge thanks to Heavenly Water for stepping up in supporting the youth of St. Maarten.
