Gas station robbers sentenced

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Suspect R.O.R was sentenced today, June 8, to 22 years in jail by the Court of First Instance for aggravated manslaughter, extortion and accessory to an illegal firearm possession concerning an armed robbery on November 30, 2015, that took place at the Sol gas stations in Cole Bay and Simpson Bay.

During the robbery in Cole Bay, the gas station attendant was shot dead.

A second suspect in this case B.A.D. was found guilty by the court for committing a violent robbery, which led to the death of the victim, extortion and accessory to illegal firearm possession.B.A.D. has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.

The Prosecutor’s Office had asked for 25 years in jail for R.O.R., and 15 years in jail for B.A.D.
