PHILIPSBURG – Immigration officer J. Marlin and another man, who are suspects in the case “Ostrich” were freed from jail this week when the official paperwork to prolong their detention was not in order. This was a technical error by the Prosecution.

The Judge of Instruction released both of them, but the Prosecutor appealed, and Marlin and the other man had to appear in front of a Judge on Friday November 18. The Prosecutor had all his documents in order and the Judge ordered her detention prolonged by 8 more days. Marlin was re-arrested and the man remained free from this case.

Meanwhile, two other immigration officers – with the initials K.B. and A.D. – were suspended this week. It is not clear to our newsroom if they are directly or indirectly involved in the Ostrich case.
