Minister explains reason for reduction in LPG prices

PHILIPSBURG – Minister of TEATT Ingrid Arrindell disclosed that a decrease in prices of LPG products went into effect on February 22.

Speaking at the Council of Ministers press conference, Minister Arrindell explained that the price change was due to the current state of international market prices.

“The LPG price for the 20-lb cylinder was NAf. 42 and it was reduced to NAf. 21.73. The 200-lb cylinder was NAf. 153 and it was reduced to NAf. 126.96. The current price per pound is set at NAf. 1.51,” Arrindell explained.

She noted that the legal remit for the price reduction can be found in the price ordinance. “Many retailers were very upset that the prices were reduced so drastically, however, in the past it was not being done because the (international price) was high and we saw the possibility to reduce these prices, and the department took it upon themselves in order to give the public a relief,” Minister Arrindell said.
