GREAT BAY – On Wednesday, May 18, the Independence for St. Martin Foundation (ISMF) will make a presentation to the Parliament of St. Maarten, on two agenda points, according to a release from the ISMF.
The first agenda point scheduled for the meeting is, “Holding of a referendum on independence” in the territory. St. Maarten is a territory of the Netherlands.
The second agenda point identified in the May 9, letter to Parliament from the ISMF is, “Getting the territory of St. Maarten on the United Nations Decolonization list,” which is formally known as the list of Non-Self-Governing Territories.
Given the importance of the issues that will be discussed concerning the political future of St. Maarten, the ISMF is inviting the general public to attend the meeting, which starts at 11:00am at Parliament House, said President of the ISMF Joseph H. Lake, Jr.
