Pond Island – Public school students and their music teachers visited TelEm Group’s main building on Pond Island recently to sing a collection of popular carols and say thank you to management and staff for supporting their efforts throughout 2015.
The schoolkids set up an impromptu stage in the TelEm Group main lobby in front of customers and staff, where their carols and instrument playing were warmly received.
This is the third year in a row that the public schools have warmed up the Christmas season with a festive visit, which this year included renditions at the UTS building, the Windward Islands Bank and RBC Bank.
Organizers said the annual visits are the initiative of the Head of Public Education, Mrs. Gwendolyn Davis-Holiday, and involves the input of Rosemary Marsham-Hodge of Martin Luther King Jr. and Genevieve de Weever schools, Mr. Everard Blackman of the Prince Willem Alexander and Vocational schools, Mr. Omar Hunter of the Vocational Training and Ruby Labega schools and Mr. Anthony Hunter of the Lionel Connor and Oranje schools.
TelEm Group Chief Financial officer (CFO) Mrs. Helma Etnel welcomed the students and teachers to the store and was most grateful for their show of thanks and appreciation for the help the company has given to public schools in the past.
“We certainly like to help where we can in the field of education and we realize that the Public schools need any extra help we can give,” said Mrs. Etnel.
