COLE BAY – Island residents and tourists of all ages are invited to a celebration of competitive sailboat racing, live music and fun at the second annual Lagoonies Regatta on Saturday, June 25, hosted by Lagoonies Bistro Bar.

The Regatta will feature a full day of events. The racing will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Simpson Bay Lagoon. The 6:00pm-7:00pm awards ceremony, followed by the Regatta’s free live concert at 8:00pm with Guadeloupean gwo ka band Ti Fèy La Ka Soné headlining, will both be held at Lagoonies. “You don’t have to sail to come party!” explained Director of Lagoonies Bistro Bar Olivia Roudon. “Ti Fèy La Ka Soné are gonna rock the dock, so get ready to dance!”

“We’re excited to announce the second edition of this Regatta. We hope everyone will come out to enjoy a great day of sailing and a fun night of fantastic live music,” said Roudon.

Amazing sailing is on deck at the event, with all slots already booked by well-known teams, including a youth team from Kids at Sea. The teams will sail identical Sunfast 20′ mini-yachts used by the Caribbean’s leading championship sailors throughout the year, provided by event partner Lagoon Sailboat Rental. Youth will also be competing in a second category of RS Vision sailboats. All racing events will take place next to the causeway bridge in Simpson Bay Lagoon.

Drink specials will be offered to Regatta spectators all day, and there will be Regatta specials on the lunch menu. Reservations are required for dinner, and can be made by phone: +590 690 66-06-76, by email: bistrolagoonies@gmail.com, or by Facebook message.

Lagoonies Bistro Bar is accessible by land or by sea, and is located at the Lagoon Marina, Wellington Road 33-35 between ELECTEC and FKG in Cole Bay.

The 2016 Lagoonies Regatta is brought by Lagoonies Bistro Bar, and made possible by the hard work and talent of many volunteers; support of Lagoonies’ event partner Lagoon Sailboat Rental; media partner Island 92, and sponsorship of Heineken, Mount Gay, Budget Marine and Lagoon Marina.
