SIMPSONBAY, Sint Maarten — On Thursday January 7th, 2016 representatives of the SHOOT HOOPS NOT GUNS committee met with representatives of the Simpson Bay Community Council and C.O.P. (Beacon Hill/Maho/Lowlands) to discuss the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ project.
The districts representatives explained where they saw room for improvement in their districts in reference to infrastructure and social cohesion. One of the attendees of the meeting, who prefers to remain anonymous, showed his enthusiasm by pledging to partner up with the ‘Shoot hoops, not guns’ project by purchasing a partnership package via his company.
It was agreed that all would meet again in two weeks time to start preparing for the community events to take place in the Simpson Bay and Beacon Hill/Maho/Lowlands areas in the month of March, with festivities and the Basketball Tournament for these areas to take place on March 26th, 2016.
All community councils and home owners associations are invited for a presentation on the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ project at the Rupert Maynard Community Center on Thursday January 14th, 2016 at 19.30 hrs. Be on time!
