Students from Panama and USM unite

PHILIPSBURG – On Tuesday, February 28, a group of 11 students from several universities in Panama, who are currently on a group campus crusade, visited the University of St. Martin (USM) to explore the campus, the various degree programs and the possibility of establishing a branch of their organization at USM.

The group, who is here for two weeks, was welcomed by President of USM Dr. Francio Guadeloupe, Dean of Academics Geneve Phillip-Durham, and Kiran Manglani of the USM Student Government Association (SGA). They discussed the various study programs at USM and what USM has to offer the students.

The students’ main purpose of their visit is to share real world and business experiences with the students of USM in many areas such as leadership, ethics, integrity and decision making. Their organization is established in approximately 200 countries already, and they want to explore the possibilities in St. Maarten and at USM.

This is the second year in a row that a group of students has visited St. Maarten and USM.

The students conducted activities in various classes and engaged in activities outside the classroom.
