UPDATE * BREAKING NEWS *: Kevin Metura aka Bones died this morning after being shot multiple time Sunday night

FRENCH CUL DE SAC, Saint Martin — 721news received confirmation from Gendarmerie representative Mr. Manzoni that Kevin “Bones” Metura died from his injuries.

This is the first murder for the year on the French side.

Kevin aka “Bones” is said to have suffered multiple gun-shot wounds in the district of French Cul-de-sac in the vicinity of Grand Case, on Sunday, February 7 at approximately 10:00pm.

Kevin was with his friends at the French side Carnival parade in Marigot. On their way home, they stopped in the area of Grand Case/French Cul-de-Sac, where an unknown person shot Kevin multiple times.

The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was transported in critical condition to the Louis Constance Fleming Hospital in Concordia.

On Monday, February 8, at around 8:00am, it was confirmed that he had died from his injuries.

Kevin was recently released from prison in Guadeloupe, and is well known to authorities on both sides of the island.

Reports also say that he was currently on the Dutch police’s watch list after he was suspected of using a gun to threaten someone in the vicinity of the Dutch Cul-de-Sac cemetery.

Police responded heavily to the threat and placed the area on lock-down at the end of last year.

The circumstances surrounding this shooting are unclear.

Gendarmes are busy with the investigation of this first murder for 2016 on French St. Martin.
