PHILIPSBURG – President of Peridot Foundation Gracita Arrindell stated: “We are pleased to have recently received a donation from the Representative of the Netherlands in Philipsburg, (VNP) Mr. Chris Johnson, towards the fundraising International Women’s Day celebration organized by Peridot Foundation. The event will be held on Friday, March 10, upcoming from 8:00 to 10:00pm at the Sonesta Maho Pavilion.”
The VNP office, over the years has been actively supportive towards informative domestic violence awareness campaigns as well as International Women’s Day commemorative events. Such an example is the support towards the launch in 2003, of the statue-symbol located at the Church hill roundabout by then VNP representative H. de Waal.
“This generous and much needed contribution shows the continued commitment of the VNP office towards local non-profit organizations, in general and towards Peridot Foundation in particular,” said Arrindell.
“The local program for the 2017 campaign theme designated by the United Nations for International Women’s Day 2017 #BeBoldForChange includes a special segment, which is the recognition of a very visible yet ‘under the radar’ operating no-nonsense lady working decades in a very tough environment. Our Honoree will be presented with a token of our appreciation for standing her ground and delivering regardless of the circumstances,” Arrindell continued.
Guest speaker from the USA Gina F. Adams, Sr. Vice President for Government’s Affairs for Fedex Corp. International, will arrive in St. Maarten on Thursday, March 9. Adams is looking forward to sharing her life experience of being at the top of the corporate ladder on Friday, March 10.
“In addition to the aforementioned keynote address and special honoree recognition, other exciting renditions as part of the program will include young local talents Stefanie Leonora, Sandra Brooks, Lavaune Hodge-Henry, and a performance by students of Charlotte Brookson Academy,” Arrindell concluded.
The public is reminded that seating is limited and tickets can be bought for US $15 ahead of time at Van Dorp book stores in Simpson Bay and on Illidge Road.
