PHILIPSBURG – From November 2-4, the University of St. Martin (USM) will host, in collaboration with Morehouse College, the International Conference on Caribbean Literature (ICCL), a renowned academic forum, aimed at critically presenting and discussing the literature and the culture of the Caribbean region and St. Maarten in particular.
The theme this year is: “Ode to Saint Martin/Sint Maarten: Addressing the Longing to Belong in a Multicultural Milieu.” It addresses Caribbean literature and culture more generally.
President of USM Dr. Francio Guadeloupe, Dean of Academics Geneve Philip, and the ICCL 2016 Organizing Committee invites all from the artistic and academic community of St Martin/St. Maarten to submit individual and panel proposals and abstracts of no more than 250 words sent as .pdf or .docx files to Dr. Melvin Rahming (melvin.rahming@morehouse.edu), Dr. Leah Creque (leah.creque@morehouse.edu), and Rami Blair (rami.blair@morehouse.edu). The deadline is Friday July 1.
Papers may be delivered in English, Spanish, French, Dutch, or Papiamento. At the time of submission, presenters should note whether they will require A/V equipment. For updates, please check the conference website: www.icclconference.org.
