WILLEMSTAD – The government and Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas now agree and declared yesterday during the official press conference of the Council of Ministers that they welcome the acquisition of the oil refinery by the Chinese State Company Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE).
Both Prime Minister Pisas and Minister of Labor, Social Development and Welfare Jaime Cordoba were extremely positive about the prospects of modernization of the refinery and terminals at Bullenbaai.
In particular, they are excited about the promised employment for the Curaçao population. Last month, the leader of the group of twelve Members of Parliament, Gerrit Schotte ordered the government of former Prime Minister Hensley Koeiman to immediately stop all commitments and negotiations with the Chinese company.
