The first Overseas Economic Conference was launched on Wednesday at Domaine Anse Marcel. Until tomorrow, representatives from the chambers of commerce and industry of the eleven overseas territories, CCI France, and their institutional and economic partners are developing concrete proposals through thematic workshops to strengthen the economic development of the overseas territories.
For Angèle Dormoy, president of the CCISM (Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Trades), hosting this event is a source of pride for the territory, chosen by the other overseas chambers of commerce. She sees Saint-Martin as a laboratory for economic cooperation and regional integration. Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the Association of Overseas Chambers of Commerce and Industry, explained that this choice was not a coincidence, emphasizing the island's capacity to live and work in a binational environment. Alain Di Crescenzo, president of CCI France (French Chambers of Commerce and Industry), called for moving beyond simply observing the situation to develop concrete solutions, while Hervé Mariton, president of FEDOM (Federation of Overseas Chambers of Commerce and Industry), stressed the need to build a positive and more competitive economic project for the overseas territories. The findings will be presented in September in Paris, with the aim of informing the debates surrounding the upcoming presidential election.
