While July 21st will be largely dominated by the Grand-Case festival, let's not forget our Belgian friends who are celebrating their national holiday today. This date commemorates the oath taken in 1831 by Leopold I, the first King of the Belgians, before Parliament, marking the birth of the Belgian constitutional monarchy. Belgium, which gained its independence in 1830 after a revolution against the Kingdom of the Netherlands, officially adopted July 21st as its national holiday in 1890. A day dedicated to history, values, and unity. Happy National Day to all!
