What if a story didn't end with the last sentence of a chapter?

It's the concept imagined by Mylène Linon, known as Myl'N, in his first story autobiographical, "I chose myself", published on July 19. Each of the 23 chapters is associated with a original songaccessible through a QR code printed in the book.

After reading a chapter, the reader can extend the experience by listening to the corresponding piece of music. The songs, written specifically to accompany the story, play from French to Guadeloupean Creole and explore different musical universes, from gwoka au zouk, Through the gospel and the balladMyl'N wrote all the lyrics and chose the styles according to the story being told: “Sometimes, words are not enough to tell her story. Music called to me at a very young age, and I couldn't help but extend my chapters with a song.”

Born in Guadeloupe and living in Saint-Martin since 2000, Mylène Linon recounts in these 238 pages, a personal journey which she says took her fifty years to be able to put into words. The title sums up the approach: learning to think about oneself, to get back up and to “choose oneself”.
