The Sports Hall hosted the 7th edition of the Sports Festival Saturday, September 5th. With 31 stands present and a wide variety of disciplines, the event mainly attracted families who came to discover the activities offered in the area.
Basketball, football, rugby, cricket, athletics, gymnastics, swimming, coastal walking, sailing, beach volleyball, beach tennis, badminton, tennis, archery, boxing, martial arts, dance, majorette, chess or even pole dancing: 31 stands allowed the public to discover the diversity of sporting activities available in Saint-MartinAssociations, clubs and local sports stakeholders offered demonstrations and introductory sessions throughout the morning.
The turnout was particularly high between 9h30 and 11hwith many families who came test different disciplinesThe children enthusiastically participated, moving from one stand to another to try new activities. For the parents, this morning also represented an opportunity to to find out about clubs and find an activity for the start of the new school year, Sandrine, in particular, said: “My daughter is very curious; she’s tried several sports, including boxing, and I’ve tried padel. It’s not going to be easy to choose.” Clay, a father of four, echoed this sentiment: “This event is great because it allows us to learn about several sports all in one place. Organizing activities is always a challenge when you have a large family, but we’ll figure it out.” On the younger sideEnthusiasm was also in the air. “I’m so happy, I’m playing badminton with my friends. But I’d like to sign up for football this year,” says 10-year-old Ethan. Nine-year-old Shanyla was already making new discoveries: “It’s so cool! I just tried pole dancing, now I’m going to play volleyball.”
The free shuttles from CTOS SBSMDeparting from Quartier d'Orléans and Sandy Ground, the event facilitated the arrival of several families. From 13 p.m. onwards, some visitors expressed disappointment at finding fewer booths, as several participants had already left the Sports Hall. This minor reservation did not prevent the morning from fulfilling its objective: to introduce people to different sports and inspire them to participate. Several associations are still offering... introductory sessions in SeptemberThis allows everyone to try out a sport before registering.
