The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) continues to develop its international partnerships, between historical cooperation with Cuba and new economic ambitions with Morocco.

On July 16, Cuba's designated ambassador to the OECS, Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares, presented his credentials to the organization's director general, Didacus JulesHe praised a relationship based on “respect and solidarity”, recalling Cuba’s involvement in the region, particularly in the areas of health, education and training.

The OECS also highlighted several cooperation programs conducted with Cubaas an Operation Miraclemedical missions and the awarding of scholarships. The new Cuban ambassador reaffirmed her country's commitment to to continue this collaboration with the states of the Eastern Caribbean, while calling for strengthened regional unity in the face of current challenges.

The OECS is exploring new opportunities with Morocco

In addition, a Economic promotion week organized in June in Morocco allowed OECS member states to explore new business and investment opportunitiesRepresentatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines participated in this initiative led by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation. The discussions focused on strategic sectors sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, food security, the blue economy, tourism, financial services, and port infrastructure are key. For the OECS, this approach should contribute to strengthening economic ties between the Eastern Caribbean and the African continent.

Through these two partnerships, the regional organization intends to diversify its alliances and develop cooperation that addresses the economic, social, and environmental challenges of its member states.
