After more than a year and a half of provisional administration, the Saint-Martin territorial delegation of the Red Cross now has an elected board. The election, held online from Friday, September 25 to Monday, September 28, saw 40 of the 70 members participate, representing a 57,14% turnout.
A friendly atmosphere accompanied the vote count on Monday evening at the Red Cross premises in Concordia. “We are counting on you to bring us great projects and the stability we need,” said William Raux, a volunteer, with a smile to the newly elected board.
The vote took place in two stages. Members first elected the members of the board: Frantz Acramel and Yolène Robelin received 22 votes, Solange Désir 21, Rachelle Denoé 17 and Ian Titus 6. Twelve blank votes were also counted.
The board members then divided up the responsibilities. Frantz Acramel was elected president. Yolène Robelin was chosen as treasurer, Solange Désir as assistant treasurer, Rachelle Denoé as secretary, and Ian Titus as assistant secretary. The vice-president position remains vacant, and new elections will be held “once everyone is settled in,” the newly elected president assured.
This election puts an end to a situation that arose in 2025, when no candidates came forward, leaving the Red Cross territorial delegation without an office. Frantz Acramel had therefore been managing the office on a provisional basis since January 2025 with the same team of volunteers.
The objective of this office, whose mandate runs until 2029, is now to strengthen volunteer training, particularly to ensure better responses during severe weather or natural disasters, and to develop solidarity shops in the region. These two priorities are included in the Territorial Action Plan and have been validated and supported by the national Red Cross. _DR
