Marine Tellier Ourson and Mélanie Le Calvez, brought together by their respective children's school pick-ups, are embarking on a 100% women's multisport raid in Guadeloupe. To complete their budget, the “Bam Bam Pelican” launch an appeal for supportUpon registration, the pair was the only one from the Friendly Island.
They mostly knew each other by sight, but for the past few months, a sporting adventure has connected these two mothers whose children are school friends. All it took was a text message in May and a... "Yes" It was an instantaneous moment for the two women to embark together on the preparation for this 5-day sporting adventure. "We wanted to experience a challenge, to step out of our comfort zone"they say.
From November 17th to 22nd, they will participate in the Femina Adventure, a multisport raid organized every year and reserved for women. On the program: kayaking, orienteering, swimming, coastering and nighttime challenges. During these challenges, they will only be able to rely on each other to reach the end.
A former high-level athlete, Marine practiced athletics for nearly twenty years. Now a stay-at-home mother, she is looking to reconnect with her sport. "that feeling of surpassing oneself and that adrenaline"Mélanie, a nursing assistant and Red Cross volunteer, has notably practiced a lot of "great hike" all around the globe. Both now train regularly: running, swimming, kayaking, Pilates…
And with training came the desire to perform. "At first, the idea was to do something a bit fun, but now, the more I train, the more I think: no, I want us to be well-ranked.", confides Mélanie.
The project represents approximately €5.800 for the pairexcluding airfare. Already supported by several partners and an online fundraising campaign, the "Bam Bam Pelican" are still looking for nearby €2.000If they raise more than they need, the surplus will be donated to a charity. Beyond performance, their goal is simple: to surpass themselves, together. _DR
