Collective Prevention Services (CPS), the Department of Sport, the Division of Public Education, and Stichting EGO have launched a back-to-school awareness campaign to encourage healthier daily habits among children and families.
The campaign focuses on five simple themes:
Eat Smart
Drink Water
Sleep Well
Move More
Less Screen Time
The initiative is based on findings from the Sint Maarten Child Monitor 2025, which highlighted opportunities to improve children’s nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and overall well-beingin primary school chileren. The campaign also emphasizes the link between healthy lifestyles and better concentration, energy levels, behavior, and school performance.
“Our goal is to turn Child Monitor findings into practical actions families can use every day,” the collaborating organizations stated. “Small changes such as drinking more water, getting enough sleep, and staying active can have a positive impact on both health and learning.”
The campaign will begin with a short awareness video and the first of five posters. Each theme will be introduced individually over the coming months through posters, flyers, social media, schools, and community outreach activities.
Campaign materials will be distributed to schools, daycare centers, healthcare providers, and other community locations across Sint Maarten. Partner organizations will also share the messages with parents and caregivers through their communication channels.
This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to use local data to strengthen preventive health programs and create healthier school and community environments for children in Sint Maarten.
