Saturday, June 14th, Art For Science living museum (AFS) at Hope Estate hosted the success ceremony du AFS Kids program, season 3. A highlight for 72 children from three schools: Elie Gibs, Happy School and Clair Saint-Maximin, as well as from two associations, Cobraced and Boscorizon.
Throughout the year, these young people have explored the 7 major arts through 75 workshops blending painting, music, dance, theatre, sculpture, poetry and even architecture. An artistic immersion designed for develop creativitybut also self-confidence, expression and living together.
For Mélanie Dal Gobbo, co-founder of AFS and the originator of the project, the stakes go far beyond artistic learning: “The museum is a place to create, activate neural connections, release strong emotions and strengthen family ties”.
Cloé Robert, art therapist and coordinator of AFS Kids, insists on the energy of the participants and the richness of the exchanges “Children have a lot of imagination, they listen to instructions and above all they get fully involved. This project exists thanks to them.”
Students transformed by artistic discovery
On the ground, feedback from establishments confirms the positive impact of the deviceAt the Élie Gibs school in Grand-Case, despite some logistical difficulties, the students were able to discover and flourish in all artistic disciplines. “We all have different brains,” remarked 10-year-old Lilou, after these varied experiences.
From the perspective of other structures, supervisors, beneficiaries, teachers and students all report the same observation: an openness to new forms of expression and greater self-confidence. Some children speak of dance, others of music or sculpture as true revelations.
The participating artists also confirm these developments. Initially shy, the children gain confidence and sometimes reveal… unexpected talentsWhether it’s singing, theatre, hip-hop or sculpture, “They always surprise us,” sums up one speaker.
Concert, juice bar, cotton candy and artistic expression workshops These events punctuated the closing ceremony, during which the children were able to share their feelings with their families, present the lessons learned from the program, and leave with their creations, testaments to a year of learning where art emerged as a tool for expression, confidence, and personal transformation.
