PHILIPSBURG: The Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten is organizing on Saturday, October 8, 2022, a free birding trip to the bird sanctuary Parotte Ville. This is the last edition and it is aimed at children and teenagers between 10 and 17 years old.

The opportunity is too good to miss, there are still a few places available to live this unique experience: discover the different species of birds of St. Martin by visiting the sanctuary Parotte Ville in Philipsburg. In the previous edition, 18 students and two members of the Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten had the opportunity to visit Parotte Ville thanks to funding from the American University of the Caribbean Medical School.

Parotte Ville is a bird-friendly bird park that allows visitors to get up close and personal with the beautiful parrots and other local bird species by feeding and holding them, with pure interaction. Some students even took the experience a step further by giving the birds a little hug! After this beautiful encounter, the free trip continued to the local heritage museum, where the group added to their knowledge of the island’s trees, plants and animals. And to end the morning, the children enjoyed the park’s playground with a healthy snack provided by the Nature Foundation before getting back on the bus.

This is exactly the program that awaits the future little participants this Saturday, October 8, and is always free because this last edition is still funded by the School of Medicine of the American University of the Caribbean. The departure is set at 9:30 am in Simpson Bay and the return will be at 12:30 pm. Contact the association for any registration or question (see info).

The Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten is involved in the education of new generations to preserve and enhance the natural environment of Sint Maarten in the present through a variety of education, preservation, and research initiatives. This free educational birding trip for Sint Maarten students aged 10 to 17 years old is a full part of this mission.
