In its monitoring and forecast bulletin for the stranding of pelagic sargassum for the Northern Islands communicated on October 9, 2023, Météo France classifies the risk level as medium for the territories of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
Some notable arrivals are expected around the Northern Islands. Thanks to satellite images from last Sunday, October 8, Météo France notes the presence of a few filaments and rafts to the east of the islands of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. Evolving in a southeast to east flow, these are the source of occasional but sometimes repetitive arrivals for the next few days. The ocean is significantly less busy further offshore around Barbuda; sign of a probable calm within 4 days. There are still some detections off the coast of the West Indies but they are less and less numerous, they no longer constitute such regular arrivals. According to forecasts, despite the detections in the central Atlantic and in the equatorial zone, the trend concerning our territory for the coming weeks is one of attenuation. _VX
