Juventus of Saint-Martin won the fourth edition of the U13 Claude Tage Memorial tournament last weekend , organized by the Junior Stars club. For two days, fifteen teams from Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten, Saint-Barthélemy, Anguilla, and Guadeloupe competed in an atmosphere that blended competition, camaraderie, and tribute.
Created to honor the memory of Claude Tage , a figure appreciated in the territory for his commitment to sport and community life, the tournament has become over the years an essential event for youth football in the Northern Islands, based on the values of sharing and respect that animated the man for whom the tournament is named.
At the end of the competition, Juventus defeated Roaring Lions FC in the final . Junior Stars 1 completed the podium ahead of Club Franciscain. Beyond the sporting results, the event primarily allowed young footballers to gain valuable experience playing against teams from various Caribbean territories. Several individual awards were also presented. Amaury, from Juventus, was named best goalkeeper of the tournament, while his teammate, Nolan Leconte, received the best player trophy . The title of best prospect went to Iyan, from Junior Stars, while Solidarité Scolaire was recognized as the most sportsmanlike team. Racing Club, for its part, saw one of its players (No. 8) finish as the competition’s top scorer .
The organizers praised the involvement of parents, coaches, referees, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the success of this year’s event. Special mention was given to Franck Gendrey, U13 coach for Junior Stars, who has been heavily involved in organizing the tournament year after year.
