MARIGOT–The Gendarmerie is warning motorists to ignore anyone suspicious who approaches their vehicle saying a tyre is flat or there is something wrong with the tyre.
A female motorist was stopped in Bellevue a week ago by two individuals on a scooter who led her to believe the back tyre on her car was punctured. She stepped out of the car to inspect the tyre, assuming that she would also receive help in changing it.
As soon as she was out of the car, she was violently assaulted and robbed of her valuables and jewellery. The assailants escaped, leaving the woman traumatised.
The Gendarmerie advises the public to call the emergency number 17 if this happens to them, or, if the situation does not feel right and the person offering help seems suspicious, ignore the offer of help and keep on driving until you get to a safe location.
