Philipsburg – HEINEKEN, through their local distributor ILTT, has just launched BLADE, an innovative on trade tool making premium quality draught beer available everywhere.

According to Heineken, the machine works thanks to a smaller eight-liter keg and the “Brewlock” technology which forces compressed air between the outer bottle and inner container, pushing beer out of the keg into the tap. This Brewlock system is also used on the 20L Heineken draught machines already implemented on the island.

The result is a machine with the footprint of an A4 piece of paper and that can be set up anywhere there is a power source. Once it is fitted with a pre-chilled keg, it just needs to be plugged in, switched on and pressurized.

Called Blade, the compact machines are targeted at establishments which are unable to install a draught system due to a lack of space as well as restaurants that would like to offer high quality draught beer but can’t commit to the 20L quantity of the current Brewlock system.

“It takes less than a minute to set up, and changing the keg is really simple – anyone can do it. Plus there is no need to clean lines – it’s simply fresh beer cooled to 2 degrees Celsius, and the beer stays fresh for 30 days” said Lenny Bain, Managing Director of ILTT

Heineken’s Blade beer dispenser ‘turns any countertop into a bar’

Measuring 11.4” Wide x 18.5” deep x 23.2” high, Blade requires space smaller than most commercial espresso machines

Blade means that the ritual of pouring and presenting a consumer with a great tasting, freshly poured draught beer is now possible everywhere :  from boutique hotels, high end restaurants, cafés, cinemas, event caterers, corporate hospitality providers, staff canteens for after-work drinks, the list is endless. Blade really is set to change the rules for draught beer – turning any countertop into a bar.

Frank Evers, Heineken Global Draught Master, has been invited to perform a training session to all Heineken draught beer accounts to ensure a “perfect pour” every time a customer orders a Heineken. Frank : “we now have the Star Serve program. A global quality program with one goal only: perfect draught beer treatment in every Heineken outlet in the world!”

Currently, the Blade system will be available in select outlets on both French and Dutch side of the island. There are plans to launch more brews next year to offer a greater variety when it comes to brewery fresh products. We are also looking into the possibilities of making the Blade system available for private use in domestic settings, “it’s the ultimate appliance for game-night or a Sunday barbeque” said Roel Kokkelmans, Commercial Manager in ILTT.
