GREAT BAY--The Police Force of St. Maarten (KPSM) told its community that it was serious about removing criminal elements from society and it proceeded to do exactly that. The Special Robbery Unit has executed a focused series of investigations and operations over recent months resulting in an impressive 33 arrests linked to robbery cases across the island.
The results demonstrate KPSM’s sustained attention, methodical case work, and firm enforcement against offenders who target residents, businesses, and visitors.
Arrests by category:
• 1 arrest related to a casino robbery
• 1 arrest for a scooter robbery
• 6 arrests for robberies targeting tourists
• 3 arrests for robberies in residential areas (home invasions)
• 3 arrests for robberies at supermarkets
• 2 arrests for robberies against courier services transporting valuables, including jewelry
• 17 arrests for robberies at jewelry stores
These outcomes underscore the Special Robbery Unit’s expertise in case building, surveillance, evidence collection, and inter-team coordination under KPSM. The unit’s work reflects a clear priority, taking active offenders off the street and reducing repeat harm.
KPSM will maintain a no-nonsense approach to robbery and related violent offenses throughout the upcoming high tourist season. Patrols, targeted operations, and investigative follow-through will continue without interruption, with the goal of protecting residents and visitors alike and safeguarding commercial districts and neighborhoods.
