Firefighters from Saint-Martin responded in the early hours of Monday morning, around 3 a.m., to a… major industrial building fire situated near the nursery at the Cul-de-Sac roundaboutTwo fire engines, one ambulance, eleven firefighters and the column leader were dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, the half of the structure is clad in metal siding It was already completely engulfed in flames and partially collapsed. The swift action of the emergency services prevented the flames from spreading to a neighboring building. Four fire hoses were deployed at the height of the operation. The gendarmerie, also mobilized, set up a detour in order to facilitate the supply of water to the vehicles from a point located 500 meters away, in the Hope Estate area. The fire was brought under control and declared extinguished around 7 a.m.The teams, under the command of Yannick Kervoelen, flooded the area until 8 a.m. before leaving the scene around 8:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.
