Move, push your limits, recharge. That was the spirit of the first edition of Women’s Fit & Chill, organized by the Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin (CTOS SBSM) on June 13th. An initiative designed for bringing together women involved in the local sports community, beyond their disciplines and functions, in a format combining physical effort, well-being and exchanges.
Project leader Aurélie Soucy, project manager at CTOS SBSM, aims to highlight the women who bring sport to life on a daily basis: “The idea was to invite female leaders or coaches from our member clubs, to showcase volunteer work and the development of women’s sport.” support for women leaders in the sports world is one of the major orientations of the National Sports Agency (ANS), the main funder of this action, co-financed by the communities of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
During that morning at Waï Wild Gym, sixteen participants from SXM and SBH they carried out a series of experiments: cardio dynamic session, self-defense, mobility and yoga, then recovery with massage and cold bath immersionAn intense program, but designed to create bonds. Because beyond performance, it was the cohesion that truly made an impression.
In the midst of effort, barriers fall. “When we’re struggling together, we naturally help each other, it creates something powerful,” confides one participant. Between encouragement and self-improvementSome even tried the ice bath experience between 3 and 7 degrees, sometimes hesitant, but ultimately encouraged by the collective momentum.
For Charly, speaking in self-defense And accompanied by two female reinforcements, the objective goes far beyond the sporting realm. Her workshop, inspired by crisis management and violence prevention situations, made a lasting impression on the participants. Releasing stress, regaining power and confidence through reflexive actions: a a message that resonates with societal issues and the role of women in the public space.
When sport becomes a bond and sisterhood
Throughout the workshops, a common thread emerges: that of the female solidarityThe range of varied activities of Women’s Fit & Chill made it possible to create a space where Each progresses at her own pace, without judgment or a spirit of competition.Even those who considered themselves less athletic found their place, supported by the group… that is also the strength of women’s sport.
Over lunch together, the conversations flowed naturally. No more sports setting, no more hierarchy: simply women sharing their experiences, their projects, and their realities on the ground.
Present at the event, the president of CTOS SBSM, Virginie Carien, welcomed a promising initiativenamely a beautiful showcasing of women’s sport in all its diversity and already an appointment that is expected to be renewed.
Between physical intensity and reconnection with oneself, Women’s Fit & Chill Above all, it will have reminded us of one thing: women’s sport is not just an activity, but a space for collective strength, confidence, and shared progress. _Vx
