PHILIPSBURG – The St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) has invited the Tax Department to give a presentation on how to fill in a tax return form.

This presentation will take place on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:30pm at the St. Peters Community Center in St. Peters.

“Benjamin Franklin once said that two things are unavoidable in this world: death and taxes. It will soon be that time of year again when all persons working on St. Maarten must fill in and submit their tax returns. This is something that no one looks forward to with excitement, but yet it must be done, otherwise you may end up paying the tax man more than you should. If you do not submit your tax return form to the Tax Department they can over-assess your income and you end up paying far more taxes than necessary,” the SMCP said in a statement.

To make this a practical session, the Tax Department is requesting that persons also bring along supporting documents so that they can help fill in the individual’s tax return form after the presentation.

The SMCP is encouraging the general public to make use of this opportunity to get all the information that is needed about paying taxes.
