MARIGOT: In the morning of Monday, September 5, the gendarmerie carried out several road checks. Controls which proved to be productive with several offences noted.
In a press release issued on Friday of last week, Lieutenant-Colonel Maxime Wintzer-Wehekind informed the population of his willingness to work for safer roads, putting in place, among other things, more frequent road checks. This operation to fight against road insecurity, which took place on Monday, September 5, from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m., showed once again the effectiveness of such a device.
The controls took place in the sectors of Marigot, Hope Estate and Quartier d’Orléans, more particularly in the vicinity of schools. Several infractions were recorded, including one stolen vehicle, two insurance violations, two driver’s license violations, two driving a light vehicle under the influence of drugs, two uses of a telephone while driving, two seatbelt violations by the driver and one seatbelt violation by a passenger.
The gendarmerie reports that other operations of this type will be scheduled in the near future with the same objective of sensitizing road users to dangerous behavior. Road safety is everyone’s business.
