The Quartier d’Orléans Cultural Market continues to attract people

MARIGOT: After a strong comeback in July, the Quartier d’Orléans cultural market is becoming more and more a must-see craft market. On August 13 and 14, the market welcomed a large audience of curious people and connoisseurs of good products.

The editions follow one another but do not resemble each other, always leaving the public with new surprises or local products of which the craftsmen present have the secret. For this August edition, several ducklings greeted the entrance of each newcomer. The organizers of the Quartier d’Orléans cultural market work hard to put forward their products, their creations and their know-how: fresh vegetables, aromatic plants, fresh and local fruit juices, seafood, vegetarian and vegan food, coconut or sweet potato confits, homemade caramels, Linda’s candies, local honey, pies, jewels and trompe l’oeil soaps cupcake version.

And don’t forget the children’s entertainment with the mini-golf course and bowling alley. Eléa and her brother Obadiah, whose father and niece also have a stand, are delighted with the popularity of their craft market. With a degree in agronomy, Eléa shares her passion for plants and their traditional secrets, while Obadiah, a self-taught craftsman who built his pizza oven with recycled bricks, concocts a vegetarian pizza whose smell instantly awakens the taste buds. For even more accessibility, several signs indicating the location of the market have been placed at strategic locations in Quartier d’Orléans. After the visit of the second vice-president of the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, Bernadette Davis, it is this time Frantz Gumbs, deputy of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, who went to meet the organizers and the craftsmen. He took the time to talk with the people present, passing by each stand. A nice nod from the officials who support citizen initiatives like the one promoted by Eléa and her family.
