Philipsburg – Some Chippie postpaid customers on St. Maarten experienced an interruption in their mobile service during the morning hours of September 6th, following a billing system error which affected phone calls and mobile internet service of these customers. The problem, related to the disconnection of invoices was identified during the morning hours, at which time UTS technicians got to work to resolve the issue. Service restoration commenced during the morning hours and continued throughout the day, with individual numbers coming back online gradually. Full restoration of service occurred at around 4pm.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience the temporary interruption in service has caused to the affected customers.” says UTS Marketing & Communication Officer, Ivy Lambert. “We are taking the necessary steps to ensure that this will not happen again by working closely with the designers of our billing system to incorporate some additional integrity checks to ensure reliability. We are continuously upgrading many of our products and services to offer our customers the best in the market and our billing system is an important tool that allows us to do that.
Unfortunately, in this case, an error occurred where 25% of the persons whom were disconnected, were disconnected based on erroneous due dates.” Lambert continues. “We realize that you have a choice in selecting a mobile service provider and appreciate the confidence placed in us. We apologize for any disruption this issue may have caused to the day of our valued customers. We would also like to thank those customers that were affected for their cooperation and patience as we worked to resolve the issue.”
If any Chippie postpaid customer still encounters trouble using their mobile service, they are asked to power off and restart their phone. This should resolve any residual connectivity problems. UTS’ customer service team is also available for any further assistance by telephone at +1721 5881010, which is a free call from any Chippie phone.
