SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY, (DCOMM) – Due to the remnants of Dolly, which is currently a tropical wave, the atmosphere according to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS) will remain sufficiently moist and unstable to cause cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms across the region. Residents and users of areas prone to flooding and rockslides are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution, as some showers may be heavy.

Sint Maarten is currently under a flood watch until 12:00 PM, Monday, August 31.

As a precautionary measure, after consultation with the Meteorological Office of Sint Maarten by the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, in light of the current developments regarding the inclement weather expected to last throughout midday, August 31, 2026, as a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly, parents, guardians, students, and school staff are hereby informed that: All schools will be closed on Monday August 31, 2026.

The situation will be continuously monitored and if an extension is deemed necessary, you will be informed accordingly in a timely manner.
