SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) – Christmas time is time of sharing, caring and gift giving, according to a press release from Caribbean Eagles motorbike club on Tuesday. “This year it was a bit different due to the Covid 19 Corona Virus Pandemic. The Caribbean Eagles were not able to host many rides this year due to this pandemic and also because of the lockdown in the earlier part of 2020.
“Caribbean Eagles St. Maarten were also forced to adjust their way of connecting with others by using their laptops and other online devices to stay connected with their members and host their board meetings. Understanding the importance of having such devices as a helpful tool, Caribbean Eagles St. Maarten Motor Club donated five (5) laptops to aid students with their education during this Holiday Season.
“Funds that were raised during their annual Bike fest was used to purchase the laptops for the students. The decision was made by the Caribbean Eagles Board members for this type of donation due to the fact that many students were forced to do online learning during this Covid 19 Pandemic, and many students did not have access to a device to be able to follow online classes. Caribbean Eagles also found that during their discussions, laptops are also a great learning tool for students to stay up with the newest technologies that can help facilitate the students to do school assignments, allow student to access information where they can get internet connections and educational websites which can also be beneficial to lift student achievement and engagement with the teachers and other students in their learning environment.
“School Manager Samantha Beaton was very pleased and grateful with the donation of one laptop from Caribbean Eagles and related that it is very nice to receive donations. The students at the Regina School will make good use of the laptops for educational purposes she said. School Department Heads of Pkl/Pbl Mr. Vital Carty and Mr.Raymond Romney of Tkl were joined by coordinators Moniz-Baldew and Ms Laticia brown of the Milton Peters College also received 3 devices which were presented to three students to aid with online learning and they too, were very elated and grateful for the contributions made by the Caribbean Eagles. Final laptop was donated to one female student attending the PSVE.
“The board and its members of the Caribbean Eagles St. Maarten are a non-profit organization that enjoy fun rides but also give back generously and partake in many community activities like Biker for Boobs, K1 Britannia Angels program, SXM Doet and offer fun rides for kids and adults in our community.
