SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - Grief touches every home, yet few of us are ever taught how to carry it. This Sunday, 11 October, Love & Inspiration with Roy Cotton, Jr. opens that conversation in a special 45-minute segment with Dr. Janelle Chase-Mayers, convener of the Caribbean Griefology Conference 2026 (Barbados, 12–15 November), and Dr. Nicole E. Francis Cotton, a featured keynote speaker alongside Mr. Cotton.
“I am passionate about the Caribbean Griefology Conference because it honours loss not as a problem to be solved, but as a profound human experience to be witnessed, understood, and integrated,” said Dr. Chase-Mayers. “It encompasses death and dying, but extends to every form of loss that shapes a life: identity, belonging, culture, opportunity, and the futures that were never allowed to exist.”
Under the conference theme, “Rooted in Awareness, Healing, and Action,” guests will explore how loss shows up in the body, mind, and relationships, as well as various methods and tools for healing.
“So many people are grieving in silence,” said Mr. Cotton. “We want every listener to know they are not alone, and that healing is possible.” Dr. Francis Cotton added, “Grief is not something to get over; it is part of being human, and we can learn to carry it with grace. When we name our loss, God can begin restoring what feels broken.”
