SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) is investigating two traffic accidents that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., at the intersection of Welfare Road and Winsor Road. Two persons sustained minor injuries as a result of the incidents.
First Accident
The first accident involved a red Suzuki Swift and a Toyota Land Cruiser. The Suzuki Swift was traveling along Welfare Road from the direction of Wellington Road towards the Kruythoff Roundabout.
At that time, the Toyota Land Cruiser entered Welfare Road from Winsor Road, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. Due to the impact of the collision, the Suzuki Swift was pushed sideways and subsequently collided with a Toyota Sienna that was parked along the left side of the road.
Second Accident
Shortly afterward, a second traffic accident occurred at the same intersection, involving a Ford Edge and a Kia Sportage.
The Ford Edge was traveling along Welfare Road from the direction of Wellington Road towards the Kruythoff Roundabout. At the same time, the Kia Sportage entered Welfare Road from Winsor Road, intending to continue in the direction of Cashew Tree Road.
As a result, the front of the Ford Edge collided with the left rear side of the Kia Sportage. Due to the force of the collision, the driver of the Ford Edge lost control of the vehicle. The Ford Edge continued forward and collided with a GEBE streetlight pole and subsequently with the concrete wall of used car company.
A total of two persons sustained minor injuries in connection with the two traffic accidents. Police officers conducted the necessary investigations at the scene, and the circumstances surrounding both incidents remain under investigation.
KPSM reminds all road users to exercise caution at all times, particularly during the early morning hours, and to comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
