SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) reminds residents, visitors, and transportation providers that the busy high season will begin in the coming weeks. With increased visitor arrivals and activity across the island, KPSM calls on everyone to exercise patience, plan ahead, and remain mindful of their safety.

Heavier traffic and slower travel are expected across the island, particularly in Philipsburg and Simpson Bay. Motorists are urged to leave early and allow additional time to reach their destinations.

Taxi drivers, tour bus companies, and other transportation providers are especially encouraged to account for traffic delays when scheduling pickups, excursions, and transfers. Careful planning is essential to help clients reach the airport, cruise port, hotels, and other destinations on time.

Drivers are reminded to park only in designated parking areas. Parking in prohibited locations, double parking, and stopping where vehicles obstruct the roadway hamper the free flow of traffic. Passenger pickups and drop-offs must take place where permitted and without blocking traffic, particularly in Philipsburg and Simpson Bay.

Visitors staying on Sint Maarten are also encouraged to take precautions for their personal safety. Remain aware of your surroundings, keep valuables secure and out of sight, avoid leaving belongings unattended, and do not leave valuable items inside parked vehicles. When exploring the island, use well-lit routes and arrange reliable transportation.

KPSM asks all road users to follow police instructions, keep intersections clear, and show consideration toward other drivers and pedestrians.

Through patience, responsible behavior, and cooperation, residents and visitors can contribute to a safe and enjoyable high season on Sint Maarten.
