SINT MAARTEN (SOUTH REWARD) - From Sunday October the 16th till Friday October the 21st, 12 students and three teachers from a high school in Ahaus/Germany visited the VWO 4 class of Milton Peters College (MPC) for a language exchange project, SVOBE Innovation Coordinator Saskia Kliphuis said in a press statement on Tuesday.
The students from the Anne Frank Realschule either have Dutch or French as foreign language and the week was filled cultural exchange classes and hands-on language exercises, such as a French/English scavenger hunt in Marigot and a language village French and Dutch at MPC.
Other more inter-cultural activities consisted of a geography/SXM culture presentation by VWO 6 students, afro dance, and soca class, playing instruments on the beat of the German national anthem, history of the Caribbean and a history escape room and learning to make Johnny cakes and chicken wings.
But of course, there was also time to enjoy the beaches, to hike and take in nature and enjoy a family meal at home with the St Maarten students. The VWO students are already looking forward to visit Germany and the Netherlands coming April.
