SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – Every October the Sint Maarten Lions Club honors our seniors for “Seniors Month” with the Lion Nelson van de Linde Seniors Citizen Party. In the past the event has been in the form of a party at various locations, an island tour and even included a lagoon cruise on certain years. This year because of the social distancing restrictions due to Covid-19, our club has organized a two (2) hour radio program for our seniors to enjoy.
This Saturday October 31st, the Sint Maarten Lions Club will be partnering with dynamic local artists Essence, Connis Vanterpool, Funk Horny Horns Band and the radio program Caribbean Classics with Tobias and Stunky to broadcast live performances from the St. Maarten’s Home in St. Johns.
Our seniors will be taken back in time with a selection of music from their favorite artistes and the Sint Maarten Lions Club will arrange for members of the St. Maarten’s Home to call in during the radio program in order to request a song or to send a greeting to their friends or family.
The general public are also welcomed to call in to send greetings to their parents, grandparents and to the seniors in general during the full two hours of the show’s broadcast. The Sint Maarten Lions Club is asking for our seniors and music lovers to tune into the radio program “Caribbean Classics” this Saturday, October 31st from 12 noon until 2pm on PJD2 Radio-1300AM.
This project is part of the Sint Maarten Lions Club 50th Anniversary celebration for 2020-2021 under the theme “50 Years of Dedicated Service and Commitment to our Community”. The Sint Maarten Lions Club will celebrate 50 years of existence on December 12th as it was chartered on that very same day back in 1970.
