MP Lewis expressed his gratitude to Sint Maarten’s educators for their continued commitment to the development of the country’s children and young people. He acknowledged that teaching carries significant responsibilities, often requiring educators to go beyond the classroom to support students and their families.

“To our teachers across Sint Maarten, thank you for every lesson prepared, every word of encouragement, and every extra effort made to help a student succeed. Your work leaves a lasting impression on lives and strengthens the future of our nation,” MP Lewis said.

As former Minister of Education, MP Lewis also highlighted the role education plays in encouraging responsible citizenship, mutual respect, and peaceful communities.

He called for continued support for educators and encouraged the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, together with school boards, parents, and the wider community, to ensure that teachers have the resources, professional development opportunities, and safe working environments they need.

“Recognizing our teachers must extend beyond this occasion. We must listen to their concerns, respect their profession, and support their well-being. Investing in our teachers is an investment in our children and in Sint Maarten’s future.” MP Lewis said.

MP Lewis concluded by wishing all educators a happy International Teachers’ Day.
