SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – Disease prevention and treatment takes on many forms, from supporting studies to helping immunize people, to improving drinking water, and the sanitation infrastructure.
The world relies on Rotary to tackle these global challenges, and to set an example for others to follow. In light of one of Rotary’s six Areas of Focus” Disease Prevention and Treatment”, the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten Mid Isle in collaboration with the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset and the Interact Club of St. Dominic High School hosted their first ever “Prevent & Manage Diabetes Walkathon on April 24th.
Approximately 185 persons attended the walkathon, and the tickets included a healthy breakfast after the walk. Members of the Diabetes Foundation St. Maarten (DFS) were also present, to share some valuable information on Pre-Diabetes, and participants were handed a sheet to be completed to check for signs of Pre-Diabetes.
The Rotary Club of Sint Maarten-Mid Isle, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise and the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all Rotarians, Interactors and friends of Rotary for their kind contributions towards this initiative by; purchasing tickets, making donations, sponsoring items, and lending a helping hand.

All proceeds collected from the walkathon will go towards the Diabetes Foundation St. Maarten (DFS).
