SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – The University of St. Martin (USM) was a hive of activity this past weekend, March 23 & 24, 2019, as over 50 Rotarians from St. Maarten and Anguilla joined by Rotaractors and partners in service assembled to participate in the Rotary Leadership Institute training (RLI), Rotary Mid-Isle announced in a press statement on Tuesday.  District Governor, Dr. Patrick Adizua, was also on island for the RLI training.

“RLI seeks to provide quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills to Rotarians interested in developing their Rotary participation and to those identified by Rotary Clubs as having a potential in club leadership.

“The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a grassroots coalition of Rotary districts implementing a leadership development program for “potential” leaders of Rotary Clubs. Established in 1992, RLI has become a worldwide organization with divisions in every Continent of the world.

“In addition to the basic three-day course, RLI holds in-depth seminars on important Rotary subjects, including the Rotary Foundation (the charity arm of Rotary) and leadership, for the “graduates” of the basic course.

“The overriding goal of the courses for club Rotarians is to create enthusiasm for Rotary by opening up to them the world of Rotary outside of their own clubs, and also showing them the great potential of Rotary service for the benefit of the world that can be furthered with excellent leadership in our clubs

“Rotary Leadership Institute training offers four levels, which are levels 1, 2, 3 and the graduate course.  The levels must be completed in order, and it generally takes 2 full weekends to complete all 4 levels.

“Participants who have successfully completed all 4 levels are specially invited back to take the Discussion Leader course.  Forty-one participants completed level 1, fifteen participants completed level 2, four participants completed level 3 and four participants completed the graduate course.

“Four participants completed the discussion leader session, whilst two did the refresher session for discussion leaders.

“The Discussion leaders for this RLI were District Governor Patrick Adizua, Assistant Governor Marcellia Henry, District Governor Nominee Designate Louis Wever, Rotarians David Antrobus, Angela Gordon, Prakash Dialani and Julie Ramchandani.

“A big thank you goes out to Assistant Governor Marcellia Henry and The Rotary Club of Anguilla’s Past President Genefa Fedee, now serving as Area Coordinator Training for organizing this RLI,” the Rotary Mid-Isle press statement concludes.
