SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) – Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs provides clarity on the Fire Department recruitment process. Similarly, to all other functions via government or for government owned companies, there is a recruitment process in which the requirements for the vacancy are placed online as per the function book. Suitable candidates are then called in for an interview in front of a selection committee and evaluated.

All persons were given an equal opportunity to apply for the position of Head of Repression at the Fire Department regardless of nationality, race, or gender, so long as they met the requirements. Which means all qualified nationals had the opportunity to apply.

“The government of St. Maarten is an equal opportunity employer; therefore, it is important that the due process is followed and qualified applicants are considered for the job. In an ideal St. Maarten, we would like that all top positions be filled by locals, and we hold fast to the ethos of St. Maarten first, however we must ensure that a position is only offered ethically on the merits of qualification,” said Prime Minister Jacobs.
