Rotary Sunset presents school supplies to I Can Foundation | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – On August 10, 2019, members of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset were greeted with smiles and happy faces as they gathered at the I Can Foundation children’s home and made a presentation of 18 school bags filled with school supplies to the children residing at the home.

The club saw it fitting to lift the spirits of the students after the sudden passing of the foundation’s Director, the late Mrs. Cassandra Gibbs as well as to provide the much-needed materials for the start of the new school year.

One of Rotary’s key focus area is supporting education, thus the club thought it fitting to support the children of the I Can Foundation and to encourage them to strive for excellence in the upcoming school year.

The children were elated and expressed their gratitude towards the members of the club for the much-needed school supplies.

“We are grateful to have been able to provide support to the children of the I Can Foundation, especially through their time of grief. We needed to ensure that despite the challenging time the students are facing that they would be prepared for the upcoming school year. We wish the children much success for the new school year and we hope to continue providing support to the foundation”, Rotary President Jaida Nisbett added.

After the presentation, members of the club enjoyed a light fellowship with the children at the home as they got more acquainted with the children. The Rotary Club of St Martin Sunset would like to encourage all students to continue striving for excellence.

The club would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Captain’s Rib Shack, Carl N Sons and Miss Mature 2017-2019, Micheline Hunte for their generous contribution towards this initiative.
