SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Sint Maarten Entrepreneurship Development Center (SEDC) is inviting aspiring and existing poultry farmers to register for its upcoming Certified Poultry Production and Processing Training Program.
The intensive program is designed to strengthen local poultry production and create new business opportunities within Sint Maarten’s agricultural sector.
Combining classroom instruction with practical, hands-on training, the program will equip participants with the technical knowledge and business skills required to improve or expand a poultry enterprise.
The training will be delivered by Jamaican poultry experts Winston Thomas and Dr. Gabrielle Young, who will guide participants through the complete poultry production cycle—from brooding and housing management to egg handling, processing, and packaging.
Participants will receive practical training in:
- Broiler and layer production.
- Poultry housing and management.
- Disease prevention and biosecurity.
- Vaccination and basic medication administration.
- Egg handling and processing.
- Poultry-processing techniques.
- Packaging and value-added production.
The program is suitable for existing poultry farmers seeking to improve productivity, farmers interested in diversifying into poultry production, and entrepreneurs seeking to establish or scale up a poultry business.
The training will take place from August 17 to 28, 2026, through SEDC’s Advanced Education Program, funded by TWO under the E6 Country Package.
As part of its commitment to making quality training accessible, SEDC is offering the certified program at a special registration fee of US$35, representing a 95% discount on the regular training cost.
“Developing local agricultural capacity is essential to strengthening Sint Maarten’s food security and creating sustainable business opportunities,” SEDC stated. “This training is tailored to provide participants with practical, industry-based knowledge that they can immediately apply to build productive and profitable poultry operations.”
The program supports the ongoing initiatives of the Ministry of TEATT to advance Sint Maarten’s Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries sector. By strengthening farmers’ knowledge and production capacity, the program will help participating producers scale up their operations and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future for Sint Maarten.
