SINT MAARTEN (MADAME ESTATE) – Just after Hurricane Luis in 1995, the Sint Maarten Insurance Brokers Association (SIBA) committed itself to educate the masses about the workings of the insurance sector.
“These efforts included but was not limited to; schools, churches, Labor Unions, Employers, Parliament, and Governments over the past two decades.
“The hard questions had to be addressed particularly after hurricane but most importantly, we had to work for change through legislation while cooperating with Regulators towards better policing of the sector.
“24 years later, our commitment and dedication resulted in Sint Maarten having transformed into a “Brokers Market”, where some 90% of clients consciously select a good independent broker to represent their insurance needs as they recognize our added value in representing their interest first and foremost.
“With a sense of satisfaction, the founding and incumbent President Neil Henderson tendered his resignation in July which takes effect on September 22nd, 2020.
“As a result of his resignation the SIBA will soon have elections to ensure continuity of the efforts to make the insurance industry one that remains transparent and beneficial to clients,” outgoing SIBA President Neil Henderson said in a statement on Tuesday.
