SINT MAARTEN ST. PETERS) - In all things Gratitude is always a must. Once again, we would like to thank the general public for their continuous support toward SMFC Farmers Market.
This week with over 600lbs of cucumbers harvested directly for the farmers market, we encourage community members to take advantage of the reduced priced of cucumbers this weekend as our way of giving back.
We would like community members to support the cause of giving this weekend. With that in mind, we would like to offer the general public the first 300 lbs (150 kg) of cucumbers at $2.50 per kilo instead of doing the usual $3 per kilo.
The average cost of cucumbers in the supermarket today is at $4.50 per kilo. By direct consumer consumption community members are encouraged to purchase a 4 kilo cucumber package for just $10, that’s a $2 reduction from the usual SMFC market price and an $8 reduction from your regular shopping bill at the supermarket.
You might say, what will I do with so much cucumbers? Just put a smile on your neighbor face, it’s really that simple. To give is to be blessed, only blessed people are able to give, and truly if you have more then enough, then its really what its all about. Embrace the gift of giving as your blessings will always come 10-fold.
Today with high rising food cost and limited access to healthier quality food or knowing where it came from, the only way we can achieve sustainability, is by networking and supporting one another.
So this Saturday, think about your neighbor next door, think about the single mother and father, think about the less fortunate and think about the seniors, give a lil cucumbers or whatever extra you can afford. Your support also helps us to stay steadfast on the mission towards finding sustainable agri-cultural solution for our community and country overall.
As we continue to enhance the experience of the marketplace, the community can look forward to the continuous increase of Plants, Produce and Products that are locally regionally grown and hand crafted with love and you in mind.
With limited capacity and resources, SMFC will continue to stay focused on the mission with determination and will power to see healthier quality food reach our community members tables at cost they can afford.
This Saturday, the Farmers Market will offer once again a wide variety of produce and products from the dedicated community of farmers and product developers. Items available will be fresh cold press juices, banana bread, baked coconut Johnny cakes with chickpeas, veggie soup, honey, coconut oil, castor oil, fresh eggs, plants, gardening materials and locally made natural soaps, skin body care products.
Fresh Produce available this week from our local and regional farmers will be season peppers, sweet peppers, avocado, plantain, carrots, pumpkin, cucumbers, sweet potato, papaya, lettuce, salad mix, callaloo, tyarblad, basil, mint, lemon grass, big leaf thyme, curry leaves, bayleaf, celery and parsley.
The Farmers Market begins at 9 am until 2pm, so we encourage community members to come out early as 9am to get their first picks.
SMFC once again would like to thank the general public from the depths of our hearts for supporting the Farmers Market. Your support continues to demonstrate the need for positive community development, engagement and agricultural product sustainability. See you on Saturday March 22, 2025, from 9am to 2 pm, at the Rupert Maynard Community Center, St Peters.
