SINT MAARTEN (SOUTH REWARD) - St. Dominic High School is pleased to share the official results of its 2026 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme evaluation.
The three-day evaluation took place in late March and early April 2026 and was conducted by evaluators from the International Baccalaureate Organization, who engaged with the Catholic School Board, school leadership, staff, students and parents. The official report was recently received by the school at the end of August 2026.
The report confirmed that all IB requirements are in place at St. Dominic High School and, significantly, that the school demonstrated development beyond requirements across almost all IB standards evaluated.
The evaluation team concluded that St. Dominic demonstrates a strong commitment to the principles and philosophy of the Diploma Programme and is well-positioned to continue developing the programme.
Reflecting on the results, Executive Director, Mrs Lilia Aventurin Hodge and Superintendent Mrs Jacqueline Greene-Eleonora of the Catholic School Board noted that they are, “proud to support and uphold our membership in a prestigious global educational community that connects students, educators, and institutions worldwide.
“The successful completion of our third five-year IB review reaffirmed the Catholic Schoolboard’s commitment to ensuring that the school maintains and continually enhances the quality of its programmes in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
“We recognize that the school’s IB identity represents far more than accreditation. It reflects our ongoing responsibility to promote educational excellence, global-mindedness, meaningful international engagement, student success, and equitable opportunities, while fostering a positive environment in which students can experience the joy of learning”.
Among the strengths highlighted were leadership and long-term investment in the programme, communication with students and families, student support and well-being, international-mindedness, community service, student voice, assessment practices, and the school’s Academic Integrity and AI Policy. Communication was identified as a particular strength, including the use of IB Ambassadors, open houses, online information sessions and ManageBac to keep students and families informed and engaged.
The evaluation also recognized St. Dominic’s strong emphasis on developing active, compassionate and lifelong learners. Students are provided with opportunities to lead, serve their community, engage with global perspectives and take greater ownership of their learning.
The school’s IB Programme Coordinator, Mrs Gisella Reijna said, “This evaluation is a wonderful recognition of the strength of our IB programme and the work of our entire school community. We are proud of what we have achieved and excited to continue building on this strong foundation.”
St. Dominic High School leadership team Ms Marie Richardson, Ms Michelle Liverpool and Mr Herbert Davis also reflected on the results, noting, “This evaluation confirms what we see every day at St. Dominic High School: a vibrant and caring learning community where students are encouraged to lead, serve, inquire, and grow.
“We are deeply encouraged by the findings, which affirm the dedication of our students, parents, staff, leadership team, and Catholic School Board to the IB mission and philosophy.
“The recognition of our strengths in student well-being, community engagement, international-mindedness, academic integrity, global connections, and innovative educational practices reflects our shared commitment to developing compassionate, principled, and globally minded learners.
“As we look to the next five years with optimism and purpose, we shall continue building on our legacy and values; thus, deepening our IB culture, enhancing student learning experiences, expanding opportunities for collaboration, leadership, and service, maximizing the opportunities provided by our new facilities, and ensuring that every student is prepared to thrive and make a positive difference in an increasingly interconnected world.”
As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, the school will build on these strengths by further strengthening its identity as an IB World School and expanding whole-school understanding of the IB mission, philosophy and IB Learner Profile.
Other areas for continued development include strengthening preparation for the Diploma Programme, developing Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills in Forms 1to 5, increasing collaborative curriculum planning and making handbooks and policies more accessible to the wider school community.
The evaluation report affirms the strength of St. Dominic High School’s IB Diploma Programme and its continued development as an IB World School. It also provides a clear direction for building on these achievements and continuing its growth and development.
